Background
Healthy Franklin County promotes the Everybody Walk Across Pennsylvania walking program coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension as part of its “Move for Mental Health” campaign to promote the benefits of physical activity on mental health and to promote local resources and supports. Since 2023, over 500 people have participated and logged over 36,600 miles from Franklin County. 90% of survey participants said their mental health improved & 88% said their physical activity increased during the spring walking challenge.
We are excited to promote the spring walking challenge and hope we can engage more people who live and work in Franklin County to increase their physical activity and improve their mental health. And to connect our residents with mental health resources and support.
